City of Oaks Pipe Band - 1996 to 2002
I played side drum, a scottish version the the snare drum with snares on both top and bottom heads, with this band. We competed at 4 to 6 Highland Games throughout the South each season and also participated in Christmas and Saint Patrick's Day parades in the Triangle. While competing at one of the games, I met Andy White, a drumming judge. It turns out that Andy, who grew up in Scotland, moved to London at the beginning of the Sixties where he became a studio drummer for EMI records. When the Beatle's came to EMI to record, George Martin had Andy play drums on their first two singles although this was not revealed to the public until many years later.
